I went to the wet market today and found this weird looking vegetable. It's so weird, first time I ever seen in my life. At first, I thought it is white radish, or wasabi or something like that.

Funny that I have to post this picture on my Twitter and Facebook to ask about it's name. At the end, I have to ask a neighbor because nobody on my Facebook knows what is that. 

According to my neighbor, you can cook it like cooking mushroom. I am not so sure either I want to try it or not. Is it tasty?

How to be a freelance translator?

Being a freelancer is way easier than 10 years ago. Especially when you can work anywhere in the world, by using internet connection. There are so many freelance website now. From Fiverr.com to Freelancer.com, these are all websites that can help you to built reputation and get closer to the market.

All you have to do is, to promote yourself. You yourself can be the marketer for your own business. In the previous post, I told you about the Russian document translator that I met, remember? She did shared a few tips toward becoming a freelance translator. 

Register yourself at freelancer website, microjob website

She did it this way. She registered on Fiverr and some other microjobs site. She got small projects which is like a good practice to her. 

Contact a translation company

After a while, with some experience and portfolio at the microjobs site or freelancers website, she contacted a translation company to be their sub-contractor. Surely she impressed the translation company with her Russian document translation tasks that he did before. And now she is working with that translation company. This is sound easy, right? Ha, maybe you can do it too. 

Don't forget to promote yourself anytime anywhere

Since she regularly travel, she always bring her business cards with her own translation website (not the company above). Hands out her business card during travel seems a good way to find prospect, especially in the airplane. That's what she told me. 

English to Russian document translation

It has been a while I didn't write anything on this blog since my last post. I have no specific reason actually, it was just lazy to blog. Now my blogging mood is back again after I read couple blogs of my friends. Weird, right? Only blogging when read friend's blog. 

Anyway, I met a lady last couple week. She is a native Russian translator currently working with one Malaysian company. What surprise me is she did not have to go to office. She work remotely from anywhere in the world as long as she get internet connection. That's sound cool. Perhaps I can be like her too. 

She is doing Russian document translation for living. From what I can see, she doing it pretty good for living. I wish I can be like her too, where I can work remotely from anywhere in the world, so I can work while traveling. By the way, she also has a little girl. I think she's about 2 years old. 

I am surely can not be a Russian translator, not even close. But I can be a native Malay translator. Because my Malay language is pretty damn good, and to make it sound more awesome, I am quite good in Malay language. 

By next week, I will start my new translation blog, and work from there. How does it strike you? Perhaps I can be consistent about this new "work".
